Case Study

WeaveGrid

DG+Design helped WeaveGrid hone its messaging and elevate its brand identity with a new, expanded website and turn-key booth setup for trade show events.

About

WeaveGrid is an electric vehicle charging software startup enabling an electric mobility future. The WeaveGrid platform solves some of the most critical EV-grid integration challenges to ensure that the impending energy transition is clean, equitable, and resilient. WeaveGrid works directly with electric utilities, EV automakers, and charging providers to elevate the EV driver experience and accelerate EV adoption. Using machine learning, optimization, and predictive analytics, WeaveGrid’s software solution helps utilities absorb the coming waves of vehicle electrification by intelligently connecting EVs to the grid.

Challenge

Prior to working with DG+, WeaveGrid had a minimalist website with limited content that intentionally shrouded its “secret sauce”. This opaque approach made sense for a software startup looking to hold its cards close, but as WeaveGrid grew, its website needed to as well.

WeaveGrid required a brand new website complete with messaging that positioned the company and its talented team as a trusted software provider for utilities, OEMs, and EV drivers. The website content also needed to effectively communicate WeaveGrid’s unique solution to two other key audiences: job seekers and investors.

Solution

DG+ got to work immediately gathering all available information to digest and understand what makes WeaveGrid so unique in a fledgling space. This entailed pouring over existing marketing/sales materials, interviewing the leadership team, and surveying key stakeholders. Our goal was to understand what was (or wasn’t) currently working, and what the vision was for the future of WeaveGrid.

We then dove into an iterative messaging exercise in order to fine-tune how to best communicate WeaveGrid’s unique value themes and external positioning across varied customer segments and personas. As we honed the new WeaveGrid messaging, we also began exploring possibilities for the new site design. We knew we needed to stay within the parameters of their existing brand guidelines, but we were eager to push their visual identity in a more imaginative direction to reflect the company’s newest, most innovative work. We landed on a concept that literally wove images together, a nod to WeaveGrid's name and their work to connect electric vehicles to the grid.

The messaging and design came together in a brand-new website in November 2022. Following the launch of the website, DG+ was entrusted further evolve the brand through the design of WeaveGrid’s first full-sized event booth for DISTRIBUTECH 2023. They required a 10x20’ booth with a modular design that could be reconfigured to meet future needs. DG+ opted for a three-piece design where the panels worked in various arrangements: in unison, with either of the other two panels, as well as by itself. The result was an informative, visually appealing branded booth that met WeaveGrid’s immediate needs and
