Case Study

Maine Renewable Energy Association

MREA called upon DG+ to bring strategy, storytelling, and design together to elevate their industry’s voice.

About

The Maine Renewable Energy Association (MREA) is a not-for-profit association of renewable energy producers, suppliers of goods and services to those producers, and other supporters of this industry.

Our power producer members sustainably manufacture electricity from solar, wind, hydro and tidal. MREA represents the renewable power industry at the State Legislature and before the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

MREA leads the local and statewide policy debate on renewable energy generation in Maine, and works to ensure its efforts are united with those of its member companies. Acting as the eyes and ears of the industry is what MREA does best; recognizing its most valued asset is the vast knowledge, experience, and ingenuity of its membership.

Challenge

MREA needed a way to communicate the real-world impact of renewable energy in Maine, not just to industry insiders but also to legislators and community leaders who may not be familiar with the details of clean energy. The challenge was to create clear, politically neutral messaging that highlights renewable energy as a homegrown Maine industry that creates jobs, drives innovation, and stabilizes energy costs.

Solution

At DG+, we love projects that bring strategy, storytelling, and design together to elevate an industry’s voice. Last fall, we partnered with the Maine Renewable Energy Association (MREA) to do just that. Here’s how we approached it:

  • 4-page brochure: Designed for policymakers, this piece tells Maine’s renewable energy story in plain language, pairing data with real human stories, such as town managers and farmers whose communities are stronger because of clean energy projects.

  • Updated sell sheet: A fresh, 2-page resource to support MREA’s member recruitment efforts,
featuring concise messaging, a clear benefits overview, and a clean design ready for print or digital use.

  • Website transition to Webflow: We gave MREA’s website a messaging update and new visuals to match their refreshed materials, then transitioned the site to Webflow. The result was a modern, flexible platform with built-in hosting, security, analytics integration, and training for their team.

The outcome was a consistent suite of communications that MREA can use across audiences and channels to showcase renewable energy as a thriving Maine industry. It is creating opportunity, fostering economic resilience, and shaping a more sustainable future.

Results

Working with DG+ was a true partnership. They took the time to understand Maine’s renewable energy story and helped us communicate it in a way that resonates beyond our industry. Their team translated complex ideas into clear, compelling messages that speak to our policymakers and communities alike.
